Bottle washing troubleshooting.
Treat a bottle washing problem as a controlled investigation. Record the symptom, affected bottle population, machine state and utility condition before changing several variables at once.
Start by preserving the evidence.
Retain affected and conforming bottles, mark the time and format, photograph the symptom, record settings and utility conditions, and identify any recent change in bottle source, label, residue, chemistry, maintenance or line speed. This helps distinguish a process drift from normal sample variation.

Use a one-change test.
- Define one symptom and one measurable or observable outcome.
- Hold bottle, residue and all other settings constant where practical.
- Change one justified variable within the approved operating and safety boundary.
- Repeat enough samples to see whether the effect is consistent.
- Record the result and restore/retain the setting deliberately.
Escalate when the boundary is unclear.
- Chemical compatibility, concentration or temperature is uncertain
- Safety device, guard or emergency-stop behaviour is involved
- Unknown returned-bottle contents are found
- Water or effluent quality may be outside the agreed route
- Repeated breakage or operator exposure occurs
- Machine settings required are outside the supplied documentation
Link corrective action to verification.
After a fault is corrected, repeat the relevant acceptance check on the affected bottle family and operating condition. Where the change affects the validated process or risk assessment, follow the site’s change-control route rather than treating the repair as a purely mechanical event.
